About sierpinski-shapes.com

This website is a side project by Rick Joi, which was inspired by his involvement in the Crush Your Side Projects meetup in Lancaster, PA

Of all the possible side projects, why this one?

Prior to the summer of 2024, the last time Rick seriously coded was in 2013 🙀

A lot has changed in web application technology since then — most notably, the appearance and widespread adoption of React 🤯

As his day job at The Workiversary Group, Rick is building a React-based web application which is a very unique and special way of celebrating work anniversaries 🎉

However, that project isn’t especially “reactive”, and so Rick thought he could jumpstart his mastery of React by leaning into a project that required a lot of reactivity

The thought was that in doing this project, Rick would become more aware of opportunities to better use React in the workiversary project 💡

How can you help?

Enjoy the site!

  • Go to the gallery – and click the like button to let us know which shapes are your favorite
  • Create your own Sierpinski Shapes – and click the add to gallery button to share them with others
  • Share Sierpnski Shapes on social media – just copy and paste a URL from the site into your post and the social media platform will pull up a matching image

Another super-specialized way to help out if you’re an educator is to help us create lesson plans for using Sierpinski Shapes to teach fractals to kids

And lastly, if you’re so inspired by Sierpinski Shapes that you’re looking for a way to help contribute to the web hosting costs, then consider using Rick’s primary project to honor a colleague with the world’s most unique and wonderful way of celebrating work anniversaries 😍
